The G series is the CFD's catch-all class of numbering for special apparatus.
The first nine numbers were reserved for then-current and future fireboat purchases, though G-8 and G-9 have never been used and subsequent fireboats have used chronological G numbering.
Passenger car-based and early modular ambulances used the G series until 1979, when they were moved to the moribund C series.
